Wismo ("we," "our," or "us") is a Shopify application that helps merchants reduce "Where is my order?" support tickets by sending proactive shipping notifications to customers. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our service.

Information We Collect

From Merchants (Shopify Store Owners)

• Store Information: Store name, domain, and contact email from your Shopify account
• Order Data: Order details, fulfillment status, and tracking information necessary to identify shipping exceptions
• App Settings: Your preferences for exception notifications and email settings

From Customers (End Users)

• Name: Customer first and last name associated with orders
• Email Address: Used to send shipping notification emails
• Shipping Address: Country code only, used to determine domestic vs. international shipping thresholds

How We Use Information

We use the collected information to:

• Monitor order fulfillments for shipping exceptions (delayed tracking, stalled shipments, recent deliveries)
• Send proactive notification emails to customers on behalf of merchants
• Provide merchants with analytics on shipping performance and estimated support ticket reduction
• Improve and maintain our service

Email Communications

Wismo sends transactional emails to customers on behalf of merchants. These emails are:

• Sent from notifications@wismoapp.com with the merchant's store name as the sender name
• Related only to order shipping status updates
• Not used for marketing purposes
• Include an unsubscribe option in every email

Customers can opt out of Wismo emails at any time using the unsubscribe link. This will not affect other communications from the merchant's store.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade customer information. We share data only with:

• Resend: Our email service provider, used to deliver notification emails
• Heroku: Our hosting provider, where data is stored securely

These service providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only for the purposes of providing their services to us.

Data Retention

• Active Merchants: We retain order and customer data for 90 days to provide shipping analysis and exception monitoring
• Uninstalled Apps: When a merchant uninstalls Wismo, we delete all associated data within 48 hours
• Unsubscribed Customers: Email preferences are retained to honor unsubscribe requests

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including:

• Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
• Secure database storage with encryption at rest
• Regular security reviews and updates
• Limited access to personal data on a need-to-know basis

Your Rights

For Merchants

You can:

• Access your data through the Wismo dashboard
• Delete your data by uninstalling the app
• Export your data by contacting us

For Customers

You can:

• Unsubscribe from Wismo emails using the link in any email
• Request data deletion by contacting the merchant or us directly
• Request access to your data by contacting us

GDPR Compliance

For users in the European Economic Area, we comply with GDPR requirements. We process data based on legitimate interests (providing the service merchants have requested) and contractual necessity. You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, data portability, and object to processing of your personal data.

CCPA Compliance

For California residents, we comply with CCPA requirements. We do not sell personal information. You have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, and opt out of any future sales (though we do not sell data).

Children's Privacy

Our service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us immediately.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify merchants of significant changes through the app or via email. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
